CHAPTER 9

I did and understood this lesson well but I had some issues with it because when I went to do the custom shapes my photoshop on my computer would not load them. They are missing and only the outlines of my Shape Layers would show up. I also have no OpenGL but put the text in.

CRITIQUE 5

The visual content of this image is the back of a woman facing a person sitting across from her, a brick wall and turqoiuse colored booths.
Three design elements of this picture are texture of the brick wall, direction because of the way the woman and seats are places and probably size in relation to the booths to the brick wall.
The three design principles that are used are emphasis on texture of the brick wall and and the direction the photo makes you look towards the brick wall, proportion of the lady and the wall, and horizontal balance of everything in the picture and then the woman sticking out as vertical balance.
The color scheme is pretty colorful with a big black outline, different reds in the backgound, turqoise, white and gray. I think that the color is used effectively. It's very realistic.
It would be more visually effective if I could see what the woman is looking at but that probably defeats the purpose of the piece.
What draws me in to this picture is trying to see what she is looking at. Her barretts in her hair catch my eye and also they are both holding cigarettes.
I think this photo image is ok. I don't particularly like it or dislike it. It's just kind of boring to me.

CRITIQUE 4

-Betsy SchneiderliThe visual content of this picture is a little girl looking back as she is about to go through a small opening in the fence. The shadows suggest that the sun is going down. The little girl has dirt on her face and a sad or tired look. The color of her clothes and eyes match the colors in the sky behind her.

The design elements used are line because the little girl and fence are vertical. Tone because of the shadows and texture because of the rough wood of the fence.

The design principles are balance of the majority of the fence taking up the picture compared to the small part of the background sky we can see, proportion being the little girl compared to the size of the fence, and emphasis on the little girl.

The color scheme is pretty neutral with the only bright colors being her clothes, eyes and the sky that all go together very well.

The photo is visually effective I wouldn't change anything.

The look and the dirt on the little girl's face draws me in.

I like the image because it reminds me of being a little kid.

CRITIQUE 3

-Uelsmann

The majority of this picture is the roots with the focus being the house that is centered evenly in the picture. It is black and white, very quiet and lonely looking. The roots look like they are going to take over the house and eat it up.

The design elements are direction, vertical line and tone. Tones because of the blacks and grays of the whole picture. Vertical line because of the roots going up towards the house and the house going up vertically towards the sky. Direction because the roots seem to be moving up into the house.

The three design principals that are used are emphasis of the house. Balance of the the subject being centered in the picture. And unity because it has the same mood throughout the whole picture.

The color scheme is black and white and it is used very effectively because the picture is dark and dreary.

I think the photo is very visually effective.

I like that the roots are the bottom of the house and leads your eye up to the house.

I like this photo image a lot. I think it is very creative and works well.

-Parke Harrison

The visual content of this picture is a man with his sleeved rolled up looking down at his arm. It looks like the veins in his arm are coming out as little trees and reaching up towards the light. The light is shining on his arm lighting it up and making his face dark. It looks like it might be light coming in from a window or storm. The blue has a lot of texture in it making it look like rain. This picture leaves a lot to the imagination.

The three design elements are line, texture and color. The line is both vertical and horizontal with the arm being horizontal and the roots coming out of the line vertical. There is a lot of texture in this photo especially the window. The blue color of the window effects the whole mood of the picture.

The three design principles are balance of the positioning of the arm, the proportion of the arm and rest of the body and the emphasis on the roots coming out of the arm.

The color scheme is very has natural colors with a pretty blue window that all works very well together.

I wouldn't change anything in this photo.

The roots coming out of the arm really draw me to this page and make me wonder what it's meant to be. Also, the way he is looking at his arm.

I do like this image it is very interesting and gives you a lot to think about.
